Rehabilitation and Fitness

Rehabilitation and Fitness for your Pets

The Crestview Rehabilitation and Fitness Center was born from our desire to give our patients access to the many benefits of rehabilitation. Just as in human medicine, rehabilitation for animals can help improve the lives of our pets in many ways. Branching out to give our patients better care, faster recovery from a surgical procedure, helping give our elderly patients a better quality of life, to assisting with weight loss.

We conduct an additional consultation and thorough evaluation for all conditions. This allows us to create a treatment plan specifically for your pet.

We have a new, state-of-the-art underwater treadmill that is designed to improve the lives of our pets by providing a low-impact, high resistant therapy. We also offer land exercises with equipment that is designed to condition and improve balance, agility, and stamina.

Speak with your veterinarian to see if your pet could benefit from the positive effects of physical rehabilitation Dog therapy water treadmill

What conditions benefit from rehabilitation?

Conditions that can benefit from rehabilitation:

  • Post-surgical Recovery
  • Arthritis/Osteoarthritis
  • Elbow/Hip Dysplasia
  • Fractures
  • Disc Herniations
  • Paralysis/Paresis
  • Muscle Weakness
  • Neurologic conditions such as Intervertebral Disc Disease, Degenerative Myelopathy, and Wobbler’s Syndrome
  • Obesity/Weight Loss
  • Conditioning
  • Sports Injuries

What types of rehabilitation are offered?

Crestview Rehabilitation and Fitness Center uses a variety of modalities to help our patients reach their goals.

Our Center offers the following:

  • Hydrotherapy: A main benefit of the underwater treadmill is its ability to minimize weight-bearing on the bones and joints. The hydrostatic pressure improves swelling and improves circulation. The heated water relaxes muscles and helps ease arthritic joints. Underwater treadmills can also reduce the recovery time after surgery. This will help your pet get back to their normal activities sooner.
  • Therapeutic Laser: Laser therapy provides the benefit of accelerating wound healing, providing pain relief, and reducing inflammation.
  • Therapeutic/Conditioning Exercises: With the use of a variety of exercises and equipment we help our patients improve their strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
  • Manual Therapy: Using various hands-on techniques (massage, stretching, and range of motion exercises) to help reduce pain and inflammation, as well as improve circulation and increase joint mobility.

Tina 2We are proud to introduce Tina Johnson, a licensed Veterinary Technician who earned her degree from Penn Foster and is currently enrolled in the University of Tennessee’s Canine Rehabilitation Program.

She has completed all her courses but unfortunately, due to Covid-19, her final exam has been delayed.

Her strong desire to help improve the lives of her own dogs led her to pursue a career in canine rehabilitation. Having dealt with both major orthopedic and neurologic conditions with her dogs and not having a local facility to go to for rehabilitation inspired her to pursue this path. You can read more about her here.
